Advanced Breeding Strategies in Crop Improvement

Background

 

Plant breeding is an important field of research for improvement of yield and quality of plant production. The achievements of plant breeding have had tremendous impacts on economic and national development. Advanced techniques and tools would be able to assisted plant breeders in their practice of selection and strategies for plant improvement.

 

This Seminar will be its second debut of the Plant Breeding Seminar Series organised by the Genetics Society of Malaysia, which begun in 2012. Due to the overwhelming success of the first Seminar, it has now taken on a new name to reflect its wider role in internationalizing the scientific event.

 

This 2-day seminar will address the latest advances in various plant breeding activities and its achievements. More than 20 keynotes and invited speakers will be presenting their views and findings in this seminar. The seminar will provide opportunities and gather as many plant breeders, agricultural scientists, geneticists, researchers, academicians, biotechnologists and students to share their latest knowledge, experiences and achievements in plant improvement programmes.

Call For Papers

 

Authors are invited to submit papers for oral and poster presentations. Authors are required to submit a full paper consisting of paper title, author(s), address and e-mail, abstract, introduction, methodology, results and discussion, conclusion, acknowledgements and references. The paper should be prepared using double-spaced New Times Roman with font size 12 and up to 15 pages, including tables and figures. The paper should follow the style of the Pertanika Journal of Tropical Agricultural Science (JTAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia. Instructions to authors and a sample of the journal manuscript can be downloaded from http://www.pertanika.upm.edu.my/. Submission of the paper can be made via email to Mr. Zarawi Abdul Ghani <zarawi@lgm.gov.my>. The deadline for submission of paper is 1st August 2014. Acceptance of the paper will be notified in two weeks after receiving the paper.

 

Registration Fees

 

Seminar registration fee includes seminar materials, coffee breaks, lunches and a certificate. The seminar registration fee charged will be as follows:

 

PGM member participants: RM 300

Non-PGM member participants: RM 400

Student participants: RM 150

Overseas participants: USD 200
